ANNUAL REPORT -2022-23

Silver Jubilee is a milestone in the remarkable journey of an educational institution that signifies age and maturity. It is a celebrative milestone in the mission & vision and a momentous occasion for everybody concerned. It gives us opportunity to reflect upon how much needs to be done and how far we need to progress - A tryst with destiny that everyone associated with it would like to celebrate with zest & zeal,  cherish it lifetime.

My heart thrills with joys unspeakable to extend you all a hearty welcome as  this Alma mater is geared up  to celebrate its silver Jubilee to commemorate its  resplendent voyage of 25 years. While the winter has spread its wintry touch everywhere in this dewy evening ,the silvery moon spreads its silvery rays over this camouflaged earth, the school in its new get up is all set to embrace a silvery dawn of new hopes and aspirations. 25 years back in the year 1997 this Alma mater took its genesis at Ananta Vihar as a small sapling and over the years this small sapling has taken the shape of a huge tree, metamorphosing a number of alumni from a toddler to a responsible citizen of the nation and becoming the cynosure of attraction for one and all in this black diamond belt. “The bad news is time flies, but the good news is you are the pilot…”

ACADEMICS - The hallmark of an educational institution is its academic excellence as all other activities revolve around this to shape the career of  a child. Since the day of inception , an enduring and effective learning experience to each learner has been the core focus of the school and the school has achieved  consistently good results in CBSE Std-X &XII Board Examination. The school produced its first batch of Class –X in the year 2003 and the school topper of the year was Archana Raul who had a score of 89.2%. The first batch of Std. XII, Science passed out in 2003 and the topper of the year was Aman Biswakarma with a score of 84.6%. In Humanities, the topper of the year 2003, Ranu Roy scored 77.1%.

The school introduced its commerce stream in the year 2011 and the highest percentage was 84.2% scored by A.Lilly.  The consistent improvement in the performance of students is due to a planned curriculum and ceaseless efforts by the staff members.

Over the years the result has been quite encouraging with 100 percent pass percentage both in CBSE Std X and XII Board examination.. This year in CBSE Std. X Board examination, out of 179 students 57 students secured above 90% and all the students have passed with flying colours.

In Std. X CBSE Board Examination, Subhahshree Pati became the Topper of  Angul District and all MCL Schools with a score of 99.6%. Similarly, in CBSE Std. XII Science and Commerce out of 148 students 48 students secured above 90%.The Topper of Science P.Shreyanshu Anupam scored 98.2% and in Commerce Subham Kar  scored 97%.

ACHIEVEMENTS IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY – The leap mankind has taken over the centuries has been possible by the trials and tribulations of our scientists. Here at school, we have Innovation and Incubation Hub where the students are exposed to a suffusing scientific environment. The Atal Tinkering Lab inaugurated today is one step ahead in that direction. Over the years, our students have participated in various competitions and Science Exhibitions proving their mettle and bringing Laurels for this Alma Mater. The Performance of our students in YATS (Young Astronomer Talent Search) is really laudable, Consecutively for five years, our students bagged the prize in YATS and hadthe chance for an exposure visit toISRO campuses. It is rightly said—"The future belongs to those who believe in the Beauty of their dreams….”

Similarly , the students have heightened the glory of the institution in other competitions like National Science Congress, CBSE Science Exhibition and Professor Bramha Prakash Memorial Metals and Materials Quiz. Our students have been selected for State Level Competition in Environment cum Mineral Awareness Test conducted by SGAT(Society of Geo Scientists and Allied Technologists), India.

1. Neha Hansda of Std X and Somyashree Nanda of Std XI both participated in Drishika Ignite 2022organised by NISER, BBSR and bagged 1^st and 2^nd prize respectively.
2. RudrashishSahu and PiyushPaniboth  of STD-XII bagged second position  and a cash prize of 4500 rupees in VIGYAN VYAKHYA,Category-A organized by NISER Bhubaneswar .

ACHIEVEMENTS IN SPORTS – Since Sports and Games are an essential component of education we leave no stones unturned in giving priority to Sports. Regular training is given in sports to the students so that they can excel in various State and National level competitions. The notable National and International level achievements I wish to mention here are :-

1. BK Om Sai Prasad of Std 10 won World Cup Diamond Kick Boxing Championship in the year 2017 in junior category .
2. Anwesha Das of Std. XI, Tanisa Samant of Std. XI ,DivyashaChopdar of Std. IX, AnanyaBakshi of Class-Xand SiddharthGaneshan of Std. XII all have been acclaimed as Renowned Shooters and have won medals at National level this year.
3. MD Sabir won 2^nd Position in Wrestling in Inter SAI Wrestling 48kg category in the year 2006 in National Level
4. BPS Garhnaik won Silver medal in Inter SAI Wrestling 58kg category  at National Level
5. Abhismit Bhutia and Harshit Bhutia both baggedSilver medal in National level Kicking Boxing and WAKO in 2016 in National Level.

Besides, the students of our school participate in various outside sports competitions throughout the year and their performance is also encouraging.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES –Various competitions like debates, speech, creative writing and quiz are being conducted by the CCA Department to foster the creative abilities of the students. Even during the period of pandemic while the whole world was reeling under the micro-predator Corona we kept them engaged with so many online activities. The students of our school have participated in so many outside competitions and proved their prowess. As we know – one is never too old to reinvent oneself.

1.Sudeekhya Barik of class-V participated in CBSE Expression Series and bagged first prize .

2. Priyanshi Sahoo of class –IV participated in DAV Talent Hunt Dance competition , a national Level Competition organized by DAV CMC New Delhi and bagged first prize.

3. Sweekruti Subhadarshini participated in International  Dance and Music festival ,Kathmandu an International level Dance competition and brought laurels for us. She also participated in National Children’s Festival .

4. Abhipsa Das and Kanha Mishra both of STD-XII are the acclaimed singers of the school and have performed in various media channels bringing laurels for the school.

TEACHERS TRAINING AND CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM – Since learning is a lifelong process, the knowledge needs to be brushed up from time to time. The school gives opportunity to all the teachers to participate in various teacher training programs organized by CBSE , DAVCMC and other educational bodies so that they can be acquainted with the latest innovations and techniques of education as per the guidelines of CBSE.

RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES – In order to get respite from busy schedule the school organizes staff picnic each year and community lunch for the students as the students dine together forgetting their hectic life and indulging in a state of camaraderie and fun.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM- In order to create voluntarism among the students and to make them responsible citizen of future, the school organizes community outreach programs. Besides,  we organized a blood donation camp this year in which many parents , teachers and alumni donated blood.

The school emphasizes hybrid mode of learning as it is more exciting and isthe need of the hour. Almost all the classrooms have been digitalized to make the teaching, learning process more exciting and enjoyable.

ART AND CRAFT- The school has produced some artists par excellence. Two of our young artists Smita Moharana oFStd XII (Science) and Ashirvad Das of Std VII have won State Level Rajiv Gandhi Pratibha Purashkar , 2022.

1. Smita Moharana of Std. XII participated in International level 21 days Art  Challenge Competition organized by Book Leaf Publishing  and bagged Vincent Van Gogh Award, she also bagged the first prize in National Level Drishika Ignite 2022 Art competition.
2. Ashirvad Das of Std. VII won first prize in national level World Environment Day Painting Competition organized by Research and Development for Environment and Education , Patna , Bihar and won 1^st prize. It is also a commendable achievement of Ashirvad Das to mention that his painting has been selected by the High Court of Odisha for Judicial Calendar -2022.
3. Shiv Sundar Das of Std. VI bagged 3^rd Prize in Sate Level Philately Stamp designing Competition, Ophilex -2022.

OUR PROUD ALUMNI – The school has produced so many alumni over the years. To mention a few:-

1. B Jaswant Kumar (IES)  – A student of 2007,Std X batch currently posted at East Coast RailwayDivisional Office BBSR as Divisional Mechanical Engineer.
2. Sonam Singh – A student of 2009,Std X batch is now a Squadron Leader ,Indian Air Force.
3. Shiv Kumar Pradhan – A student of 2009, Std XII batch is now a Major , Indian Army.
4. SushreeSusmita – A student of 2011, Std X batch is now a SrSoftware Developer Engineer in Amazon.
5. Arpan Kumar Patra – A student of 2006 ,Std X batch is working as an Associate Director in OLAM International , Moscow , Russia.
6. Smruti Amarjyoti  -Robotic Engineer,IRIS Automation , San Francisco , USA.
7. Ashish Kumar Pradhan – Assistant Professsor ,Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology , Bhopal , Madhya Pradesh.
8. Sai Abhipsa Gocchayat – A student of Std XII 2009 batch is working as 3^rd Additional Sr. Civil Judge at Balasore.

Besides , so many other Alumni are there who have added feathers of glory to the crown of this Alma Matter.

I feel it a privilege to declare that the school has received  the Fit India school Award from the District Magistrate , Angul which is a matter to rejoice. Besides, this year the school has bagged the coveted Prakriti Mitra Award conferred by the the Ministry of Environment, Govt. of Odisha.

Infrastructure plays a crucial role in the overall development of the children. It helps in creating an aesthetic, rejuvenating and positive environment in the school.  I am very proud to tell that for the last four years, there are many development works undertaken by MCL management. There is complete renovation of electrical wiring and fittings, water proofing of the roof, complete renovation of the toilet clusters, renovation and beautification of the classrooms and main building, construction of ATL, and Silver Jubilee Memorial Gate, development of Silver Jubilee Park etc. So, I extend our gratitude to the MCL management for their generous attention and cooperation for the development of the school and well being of the children.

I cease this opportunity to express our thankfulness to the Chief Guest, guests of honour, dignitaries, Principals from DAV Public Schools, Office Bearers of various trade unions, members of the Press & media, Parents and guardians. I extend our gratitude to one and all involved in the greater interest of the school and the children.

Success is a never-ending journey for the DAVians at Dera.The sweeping wave of complacency has never derailed us from our goals. We believe in the principle ‘Work is Worship’. With a trained workforce we have always tried to scale new heights.  The silvery moment promises anew era of  hope and  hilarity in the future days to come. We are quite grateful to the MCL management for their generous and benevolent support in all moments of needs. Similar cooperation and support we foresee in the days ahead also to carry forward the tempo of progress.
